Department for Intellectual Property Protection
he University is the proper environment of knowledge, and within a complex scientific community it is imperative to create such a department meant to preserve creative values and as a means to encourage and stimulate innovators. “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu has been awarded outstanding recognition of its development in this area, as the patents obtained by the academic community in Sibiu have become a part of the Romanian scientific contributions with international value.
The mission of the Department for Intellectual Property Protection is to motivate and intensify creative activities, to draw up strategies meant to protect intellectual property, to protect and promote inventors affiliated with the academic community in Sibiu and not only.
Some of the objectives of the Department for Intellectual Property Protection (DIPP) are:
- participation at all national and international events concerning intellectual property protection;
- promoting the concept of intellectual property protection and, consequently, industrial property protection and disseminating the information to both undergraduates and postgraduates in view of achieving necessary competences for property protection;
- increasing the number of patents, protected industrial designs and patterns, new brands
- consultancy in the area of copyright
The strategy of the Department for Intellectual Property Protection stipulates the significance assigned to the rights entailed by Intellectual Property Protection, which should attract additional financial resources.
The strategy of the Department for Intellectual Property Protection includes the development and promotion of the Intellectual Property so that it becomes both an additional financial resource and an indispensable support for the educational process.
