Workshop on promoting the interaction between academic computer science research and the business environment
18-19 November 2016, IVth EDITION
The Faculty of Computer Science at the University „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” of Iaşi, the Institute of Computer Science at the Romanian Academy and S.C. Extind Management S.R.L. Iași, have joint efforts to organize, under the auspices of the Academy of Technical Sciences of Romania, between 18-19 November 2016, in the Hall of the Echoing Footsteps at the University Palace in Copou (Iaşi, Bd. Carol I, no. 11), the fourth edition of the „BringITon!” Workshop, intended to establish and strengthen partnerships between IT universities, investors and companies.
The organizers invite students in bachelor, master or PhD studies, researchers and academia from all IT domains to submit projects which can interest industrial partners and potential investors. Online registration and submission of project summaries (through the Easychair platform: 1 page containing a general presentation and a description of possible use cases) must be performed before 15 October 2016.
Projects selected by the Program Committee will be presented as poster and interactive demonstrations during the workshop, and will be published in a catalogue. Each catalogue presentation is limited to two pages, respecting this template. Among the projects presented as posters and demonstrations during the workshop, a committee of experts will select the 20 most representative ones, considered to have a bigger market potential. Their authors will have the opportunity to present these projects in very short elevator pitches (3-4 minutes). The Expert Committee will then select 5 projects, which will be given special attention: in a public session, the authors of these projects will work along experts to develop business plans. In the end, the best 3 ideas, along with their business plans, will be awarded, and their authors will receive a free three months training in a business incubator in Iași.
The workshop will also include a press conference, three presented tutorials, as well as a number of invited messages from scientific and entrepreneurial personalities, along a couple of success stories. The event will conclude with a round table entitled: Academia faces the industry.
