he Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Food Industry and Environmental Protection is one of nine faculties of “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu.

A young higher education institution, the Faculty was founded in 1990 when the emergence of the food industry degree programmes marked the laying of the foundation stone for higher food science education opportunities in Sibiu. In 1992, the Agriculture degree programme was launched, being followed, in 2007, by the Environmental Protection degree programme.

The Faculty aims at promoting higher education and research in agreement with knowledge society integration requirements, which are centered on the consolidation and development of the European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area through the fostering of excellence across all activities and operations. It is our mission to contribute, through teaching and educational activities, to the socio-economic, scientific and cultural development of the local, regional and national communities, while bringing Community and international added value.

The Faculty brings together an elite team of academics whose purpose is to train specialists in the following undergraduate fields: Food Engineering, Food Safety and Quality, Food Technology with Bioprocessing, Engineering and Management in Foodservice and Agritourism, Mountain Agriculture as well as Environmental Engineering and Protection in Agriculture. Graduate students who wish to pursue further education are welcome to enrol in one of the following Master’s programmes: Food Quality and Safety Assurance, Management of Modern Food Processing, Management of Sustainable Rural Development and Management of Agricultural Environment Protection. Ensuring the rapid integration of our alumni in the labour market is primary among our objectives, hence the establishment of partnerships with reputable companies for providing alumni with specialised practical training. Our facilities include an education farm where students can further improve their skills and competences.

Farmers and food-processing workers who wish to perfect their practice have the opportunity to enrol in our quality degree awarding distance-learning programmes.

Our external relations are facilitated by partnerships with prestigious foreign universities as well as by Erasmus and Erasmus+ student and staff mobility programmes.
